Linen Fabric

An ancient fibre that retains its natural freshness.

Linen is the world’s most ancient fabric. The Egyptians were already using it in the 5th millennium B.C., then it spread among the Greeks and Etruscans. Used for clothes, but also for curtains and sails for ships, it was only with the Renaissance that it became a material for shirts. It is characterized by a unique quality: the ability to absorb moisture. In fact it can absorb the same quantity of water as its dry mass. For this reason it is comfortable if worn in direct contact with the skin and is absolutely non-allergenic, given that it is 100% natural.

In addition, it is composed of an empty fibre giving the fabric a temperature regulating function and therefore it is ideal for both the warmer seasons and the autumn.

Linen is characterized by a three-dimensional texture and characteristic irregularities, while the rigid fibre means that linen shirts have an unmistakable wrinkled effect. If mixed with cotton, it becomes mixed linen and is even more resistant with greater weft regularity, ideal for classical clothing.
